The mountains of the Upper Galilee are among the highest mountains in Israel, rising to heights of over 1,000 meters. The topographical structure, quality of the soil and climate, make the mountains of the Galilee an ideal location for growing vineyards with grapes of the highest quality. Golan Heights Winery had long been aware of the region's premium qualities and consequently began planting vineyards in the Kadesh Valley as early as 1995 jointly with Kibbutz Malkiya and Kibbutz Yiftach. In 1997, the first vineyard was planted in Kibbutz Yiron and at the same time the kibbutz decided to establish a winery amidst the natural landscape surrounding it. Read less
