Suggested Recipe Pairing presented by
Layered Rice Pudding

RiceSelect's fragrant Jasmati® is blended with eggs, milk and fall's favorite spices, cinnamon and nutmeg, to create a delicious rice pudding, which is layered on top of fluffy cream cheese and abuttery pecan crust. Pairs well with a bold, tawny port with flavors of dried fruits, nuts, and spices.

This has an attractive almost spearminty edge to the ripe apple and peach fruit tones. With air it shows a bit more sweetness and a light toasty edge. On entry this is firm and focused with deep flavors of pineapple, ripe peach, and lightly pastry tones. This is quite well balanced with gentle richness but not a ton of weight and it certainly is not heavy in the mouth. A really nicely expressive Chardonnay with real depth to the fruit flavors, and a long, refreshing finish that ends with a touch of spice. I would love to pair this with veal, maybe with mushrooms and cream. Good Value! 91pts

Toasted marshmallows and lemons on the nose. Nice balance of acidity and bready milky sweetness. Nice dry sweet finish.

This is a serious Chard. There's a bit of heat on the nose, and then big, rich oak -- it's bold, but nicely integrated. Chalky lime and slate give way to great, juicy lemon and field grass on the palate.

Winemaker's Notes:

For those of you weary of okay and buttery Chardonnay, here is a wine that delivers unmasked Chardonnay flavors and Santa Rita Hills character without over-the-top manipulation. If you want to taste what Chardonnay can be like without much interference, try this on! With new oak impact at an all time low, one can actually see through the layers and depict the fruit. Here there are notes of baked apple and banana. Veins of minerality appear and disappear and there are in-check malolactic notes to suggest richness and complexity. In the mouth, the wine enters softly and the fruit emerges first. Apple, pear, and pineapple comprise the majority here. Only the slightest hint of new oak appears and integrates. The wine is fully flavored without being heavy or overbearing. All the elements are in balance to form a quite quaffable glass of Chardonnay.
