Gaillard Pierre Cote Rotie Cote Rozier 2005

External Review:

This is the North Berkeley "Cuvee Unique" which is 100% Syrah. The nose is a bit more perfumed than that of the "Viallieres"; not quite as animale. This wine still has an inky, aromatic char and a bit more ripe plum and blackberry mixes with the sweet tar, black tea and spice. Dried chewy plum with the tannins gathering mid-palate. The acid proffers a bit more polish to the palate. Very harmonious and refined, with flexible power and muscularity tempered by its acid and structural tightrope balancing act. Exotic and indulgent.

Pierre Morey:
The total area of the domaine is 11 hectares, distributed in different parcels located in the districts of Monthelie, Pommard, Puligny-Montrachet, and, of course Meursault. All the vineyards were cultivated following organic agricultural practices from 1992 to 1997, at the end of this period the domaine became 100% biodynamic.
