- This is the North Berkeley "Cuvee Unique" which is 100% Syrah. The nose is a bit more perfumed than that of the "Viallieres"; not quite as animale. This wine still has an inky, aromatic char and a bit more ripe plum and blackberry mixes with the sweet tar, black tea and spice. Dried chewy plum with the tannins gathering mid-palate. The acid proffers a bit more polish to the palate. Very harmonious and refined, with flexible power and muscularity tempered by its acid and structural tightrope balancing act. Exotic and indulgent.
