Gagliole Rosso 1998

Editorial Review by Gregory Dal Piaz:

From Magnum: This smells lovely with light cherry, tar, mineral earth and oak aromas on the nose with a hint of brett. Bright and juicy on entry, there's a nice base of small but stiff tannins here supporting transparent cherry and mineral fruit. A touch astringent, this is a touch nervous on the palate, with burnished cherry flavors yielding to more toasty oak and earth flavors on the moderately long finish. This needs food but the fruit, sour cherry and orange peel, does persist on the moderately long finish. 90pts

The family He, a Swiss lawyer and banker, she, a noted gallery manager who decided to settle in Gagliole, Monika and Thomas Bär were captivated by the magic of the Tuscan countryside, where they first met and where they would discover the love that would bind them for the rest of their lives. Over the years, their love of good wine became a true passion. The philosophy Ancient terraced vineyards tell the story of a carefully preserved landscape. The delicate balance between soil and climate is the ideal model for those who have chosen to cultivate this land respectful of nature and its rhythms. Gagliole is an impassioned universe of persons who are determined to bring out the best that the plants and land can offer. Read less
