Tasted this wine at a local shoppe and was pleased. Took a bottle home and we were not disappointed! Excellent taste for an inexpensive bottle.

The name “Gabriel Meffre” evokes first of all the company’s founder, Monsieur Gabriel Meffre, who established Maison Gabriel Meffre in 1936 in Gigondas which became one of the most important wineries in the Rhóne Valley. Our prime objective has always been to provide wines that meet your expectations. Throughout the years, we have increased our experience and knowledge while extending to the Languedoc region: Our winegrower knowledge, through Domaine de Longue Toque & Château Grand Escalion. Respectful of our terroir and our environment, we manage the vineyards through the principles of “sustainable agriculture” (Terra Vitis Label”) Our negociant experience, through our wines selection. Over the years, we’ve established strong relationships with our viticultural partners. We chose them according to strict specifications and their dedication to our environmental concerns. Our oenologists are present with the producers at every step of the winemaking process. This ensures that our wines meet the highest standards of quality. Read less

A typical Cotes du Rhone. Instantly enjoyable but no real finish.Probably would improve if kept 2-4 years.A bit of earthiness helped it along.

Bright and spicy, this well-priced Côtes du Rhône has fresh flavors of black raspberry and cherry on a light-to-medium-bodied frame. The stony finish (hence the name "galets") has surprising length.

This 2009 Cotes du Rhone exemplifies the superiority of the vintage as a whole. Kirsch hits the nose first and foremost with nutty caramel underneath and a barely noticeable raisin quality. Apple skin tannins accompany the kirsch (cherry) on the tongue with a smidge of sweet rye bread toast. The finish is at least 30 seconds long. The finish leaves raspberry strawberry and a touch of anise lingering on the palate. The wine held up for a second day with no loss of enjoyment. Put some lamb chops on the grill and open a bottle or three with friends and family.
