It was a joy to taste the G.D. Vajra Bricco delle Viole. The nose showed an elegant, yet intense floral perfume with spiced cherries and floral stems. On the palate, it was feminine and balanced with cherries, strawberry and menthol, which provided an airy lift with a juicy mid-palate. It finished showing a fine tannic structure. This was one of the best ’07 Baroli I have tasted to date. (Slow Wine awarded this bottle their orange highlight, representing a ”Great Wine.” I wholeheartedly agree.)

The 2007 Barolo Bricco delle Viole has just been bottled, but that doesn't seem to get in the way of a terrific showing. It is a beautiful wine graced with tons of delineation and sheer intensity. The aromas and flavors build effortlessly to a hugely impressive, dazzling finish. The 2007 shows the volume and depth of the vintage, but with the expressive bouquet and overall harmony that define the finest wines of the year. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2027. - Robert Parker 95+ Points This is ripe, showing plum and black cherry aromas and flavors, along with an iron note and a structure of big, burly tannins. Awkward now, and balanced on the dry side, yet with sweet fruit. Best from 2015 through 2024. 730 cases made. -BS ** SOLD OUT **

Transparent garnet core leading to a pale pink rim. Muted yet classic nebbiolo nose with tar licorice and ripe red cherry aromas supported by faint notes of vanilla. The palate is outstanding with bright and elegant flavors of strawberry currant and raspberry along with sweet well-integrated tannins. Fruit flavors persist through the lengthy finish. Surprisingly accessible and crafted in a less concentrated style this Barolo is ready to drink and will prove rewarding over the next decade. Ryan Moses.
