Winemaker's Notes:

Aldo Vajra's wines are characterised by pristine flavours and clearly defined perfumes. These characters are attributable to the position of his vineyards that are at about 400 metres above sea level in the village of Vergne, commune of Barolo. In the 2004 vintage, we arranged for Australian winemaker Stephen Pannell, who is besotted by Nebbiolo and Barbera, to work the vintage with Aldo. Vajra’s vineyards are more than 50 years old and are located in the commune of Barolo, in Vergne. The soil is rich in calcareous marl, with rocky outcrops, giving elegant, fragrant and particularly longlived wines. This Barbera is ruby red colour. On the palate, it is intense and full with a silky texture. Flavours of damsons and chocolate.
