G. Cesari Amarone Della Valpolicella Classico 2009
Produced in the boroughs of Negrar, Marano di Valpolicella, Sant'Ambrogio, Fumane, San Pietro in Cariano (the historic area of Valpolicella Classico production). The drying on racks of the Corvina, Rondinella and Molinara grapes until mid January and the ageing in large oak barrels and barriques, together with the long period of rest in bottles, allow us to enjoy this great wine. Suitable with red meat, game and also as a dinner closing wine.
External Reviews for G. Cesari Amarone Della Valpolicella Classico
Smoke and sous-bois notes underscore the flavors of plum sauce, dried herb, game, ground pepper and anise in this moderate red, with a light grain to the tannins. Drink now through 2017. 20,830 cases made.
From the Classico zone, the 2009 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico undergoes three years of oak with stints in large oak cask, barrique and tonneaux. There’s complexity and intensity here with background shadings of dried tobacco leaf, cherry cola, blackberry liqueur and worn leather. The wine shows great integration and smoothness, with just enough tannic firmness to give it importance and cellar longevity. Drink 2014-2022.
