Fuligni Eredi Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Vigneti Dei Cottimelli 2001

Winemaker's Notes:

"Currant, berry and raspberry follow through to a full-bodied palate, with firm yet silky tannins and a fresh finish. Goes on for minutes. Tight and concentrated now. One for the cellar. Best after 2008. 2,000 cases made...95" WS 04/06

The vines, which extend over ten hectares, are primarily located at Cottimelli at altitudes varying from 380 to 450 meters above sea level. The Fuligni estate has 25 acres under vine divided among older vines at around 1,200 feet on galestro marls on which the Brunello grapes are planted. Severe pruning and green harvesting are employed to reduce yields and improve quality. The 2001 Brunello was aged for 3 years in a combination of Slovenian and French oak barrels of varying sizes. A firm structured, tightly wound and very promising Brunello.
