Food Pairings for Frog's Leap Zinfandel Napa Valley
One of my favorite Zinfandel in this price range. I will continue to purchase this and hope to try multiple vintages. New world style that is fruit-forward with still that slight hint of spice the pairs well with red meat or BBQ. Great quality and a wine I always reach for when looking for a gift here in Texas. Wonderful!
Nice overall wine, although it shares more characteristics with a Merlot then classic Zin. Earthy aromas, dark berries, a bit of acid. Not a fruit bomb, much more subtle. Very enjoyable, but at this price point, I think there are better choices. For a few bucks more, I'd rather find a Michael David Earthquake Zin.

In the centuries-old tradition of the "field blend" the 2008 Frog's Leap Zinfandel reveals the great character and multi-layered nuances of its almost forgotten varietals. The Zinfandel offers lush layers of wild raspberry and mulberry underscored with a touch of cinnamon and white pepper. The 'Pets' deepen the rich dark color, add a weighty mid-palate and strengthen the flavors of blueberry and spice while that dash of Carignane helps to drive the finish. The tannins are polished and the texture is plush. With an alcohol under 14% this wine is rich yet quaffable and is the perfect partner for your next barbeque. - Winery ** SOLD OUT **
Full bright red. Red currant, spice cake and nuts on the nose. Soft and supple but a bit generic, with gentle flavors of red fruits and spices. Finishes with dusty tannins, moderate persistence and a hint of edgy acidity.
John Williams dry-farms this organically grown zin, which contributes to its restrained style and relatively low alcohol (13.5 percent). It comes off as taut claret; the fresh raspberry flavor takes on a pleasing shape as it wraps around scents of pine, herb and earth. The wine has the kind of transparency that makes room for food. Serve this with grilled quail.
