Frog's Leap Winery Chardonnay Napa Valley 2016

External Review by We Speak Wine:

About the Wine: In general we are seeing wines from the 2014 vintage showing more forward fruit and somewhat broader shoulders than some of the more recent vintages we have compared them to. Our 2014 Chardonnay is no exception. Make no mistake this wine is classically proportioned: completely dry with lovely acidity. Yet there is a depth to the wine that belies its relatively modest alcohol content. Eight months of sur lie aging contributes beautiful brioche, toasty aromas underscored by fresh white flower aromatics. This wine is great with all kinds of seafood, of course, but will stand up nicely to chicken and veal dishes as well…and to my mind the stinkiest cheeses you can find. Winemaking: 100% whole cluster press 97% barrel fermented and concrete tank aged 3% barrel fermented and barrel aged Alcohol: 13.4% pH: 3.23 TA: 6.6 g/L

About the Wine: The excellent growing and ripening conditions of the 2012 vintage have added an extra dimension to this compelling Chardonnay. Once again we have combined brief barrel fermentation with an extended sur lie aging in concrete vats. The result is a wine that retains a delicate slate, lemongrass aromatic with just a hint of stone fruit. Super clean on the palate, this wine’s rich flavors are all underscored by light touch of the minerality. The superb balance of bright acid and lovely flavors of peach and citrus make this your go-to wine for all your seafood delights…from freshly shucked oysters to a simple grilled or sautéed filet of sole. - Winery Alcohol: 13.1% Total Acidity: 6.6 g/L pH: 3.32 ** Only 5 in Stock **

Much of the complexity and style of the 2011 Frog's Leap Chardonnay comes from the unique combination of barrel fermentation followed by aging in concrete vats. The result is a wine with compelling flavors and a bright crisp mouthfeel. Lightly scented citrus and stone fruit aromatics are followed by flavors of apricot, wet-stone and vanilla. Seductive and elegant, you will be tempted to a second and third sip. The beauty of this wine immediately opens up culinary possibilities rarely found in bigger California Chardonnays: crusted halibut, oysters (prepared any way), oven-roasted chicken breast, or fresh Dungeness crab with some hot garlic butter. It's the perfect dinner companion. You will not be disappointed! - Winery ** SOLD OUT **
