What to Expect

Zinfandel is considered America's own great indigenous grape, even though its origins lie on the Adriatic coast. Planted throughout California and the Pacific Northwest, Zinfandel is at its best in warm regions with cooler temperatures during harvest. The wines can range from off-dry Rosés, White Zinfandels, and light bistro styled wines, to big, rich powerful wines - even luscious wines for dessert bottling. The flavors range from plummy to raspberry, although deep blackberry fruit and brambly spice tones are most common.

Winemakers Notes

"The first sensations are aromas of cinnamon and clove which underscore the rich layers of dried cranberries and wildberry. Lush layers of cherry and boysenberry delight the palate while subtle nuances of oak and earth never overwhelm. Bright acid balances soft tannins resulting in a plush, lingering finish. Rich yet quaffable; our 2005 Zinfandel is a wine that both complements a meal or is delicious on its own." Winery Notes

This is by far my favorite Red Zin.

The farming method for this wine is old-world – a field blend of five different red grapes from organic fruit (some of which are not yet certified). What’s in the bottle too, is from another time – thankfully. This is not your typical bruiser of a Zinfandel loaded with ultra-sweet, overripe fruit exacerbated by stratospheric alcohol. So, if you like your Zins fashioned in the latter way, pass this one by. But for those of us who still appreciate a well-made, delicious, well-balanced wine, this one’s for the rest of us. It’s alluringly pretty with black fruit and a hint of baking spices read more...

A very drinkable Napa Zin. Nice fruit, not too spicy. Really starts to develop after being opened for an hour or so.
