Frog's Leap Chardonnay 2016

Winemaker's Notes:

This is a superb wine from an extraordinary vintage. Beautifully reductive, aromas of white peach and hazelnut are slowly revealed with a few swirls of the glass. Carefully balanced on the acidic side, the 2016 Chardonnayhas weight without heaviness, elegance without formality and drinkability without seeming to care. It is a food wine. Adept with a platter of oysters but more than willing to take on the richest, creamiest sauce. It should developfor many years to come. -Winery notes

Lemon, citrus and backed lemon scents emerge out of the wood tomes, growing juicy and fragrant with air. It's balanced toward sweetness, for a Vietnamese shrimp curry.

Delivers some earth tones and attractive apple and lemon flavors offset by judicious use of oak and backed by bright, but not overwhelming, acidity.

Big and leesy at first, the more time you spend with this wine the more it comes across breezy and refined. The flavors are all about minerals, salty, crisply refined. Then they finish on fruit, on quince and citrus flavors that are finely drawn. It's got good grip for scallops broiled in butter, and its got staying power to age.

There's an earthy quality to this Chard, with herbal sage, dill and Bay laurel flavors to the underlying peach and apricot flavors. It's also a little on the soft side. Will benefit from decanting for a few hours, to take the edge off and let it breathe.

A good, everyday Chard. It's sweet in caramelly oak, vanilla, buttered toast, pineapple jam and butterscotch flavors, with just in time acidity to make it finish clean and brisk.

Green pear and leafy, mineral aromas. Ripe, rich and firm, with spicy pear and green fig flavors that are tight and well-structured. Clean, earthy aftertaste, with a touch of oak. Drink now through 2006.
