What to Expect

Brunello is a clone of Tuscany's Sangiovese grape that is grown in and around the village of Montalcino. This clone produces the deepest, darkest, richest version of Sangiovese, redolent of violets, damp earth, dark cherry and leather with a gentle blend of spice and herb. The acidity is high and while the grape can be considered tannic it is generally well balanced, highlighting the dark cherry and plum fruit and deep contrasting notes of earth and spice.

Reviews

A generous, multi-layered aromatic spectrum, veined with crisp nuances of menthol, followed by clean-edged fragrances of dark red berries, in particular blackberry and blueberry. Last to emerge are notes of rich spice, where elegant hints of black pepper and cinnamon predominate, capped by pungent tobacco leaf. It shows exquisite balance on the palate: a subtle weave of dense tannins integrates nicely with a full-bodied, beautiful structure, and a thread of crisp acidity acts as an elegant foil to its heady, opulent alcohol. It unfurls an almost endless finish that is complex and appealing.
