Freixenet Semi-Seco Carta Nevada NV

External Review by Premium Wine & Spirits:

Round and fruity, with exuberant sparkler offers noticeably sweet, canned fruit flavors of peach and pear. Just enough acidity to maintain a fresh, easy-drinking balance. Drink now.

The sweet and waxy aromas are similar to what you might get from an aromatized candle. The palate is sugary and soda-like, with flavors of sweetened lime and apple wedges. And the finish seems a bit like 7-Up. Best for those who like a sweeter bubbly.

Butterscotch aromas are backed by a candied palate full of pear syrup. The mouthfeel is soft, and the finish everlasting due to residual sugar. Probably too sweet for most but not badly made.

The nose is clean, much like rainwater. The flavors, meanwhile, are anything but neutral. Thereandrsquo;s plenty of banana and sugar. If you can handle a strong hint of residual sugar, this one will work, because it does have a nice balance and feel to it.

Some early pickle and sauerkraut aromas were worrisome until they completely disappeared. Left in their wake are flavors of apple juice and peaches, while the mouthfeel registers as solid and full. A little funky and definitely not for everyone, given the wineandrsquo;s overt sweetness and oddities.

As semi-dry Cavas go, it’s hard to lodge a complaint against this one. The bouquet is of powdered sugar and white fruits, and the palate is sturdy and shows sweet mango and papaya flavors. Finishes clean and dry, with a spot of spice.
