Aromas of permanent markers and rotting fruit. The saving grace is artificial grape flavor a.k.a purple. I hope they're not A-Frei-d of making a good wine.
Mealy overripe fruit on the nose. If you breathe too much it smells like a Sharpie™. Gritty plums with light prickly blueberries on the finish. Not too sure about this one.
Nose of black olives, flat and lifeless (bad bottle). Tannic, long finish, on licorice.
90 points from Robert Parker: "A super bargain, the deep ruby/purple-tinged 2007 Zinfandel exhibits a spicy, flowery bouquet of blue and red fruits, gritty/robust flavors, abundant fruit, and an exuberant, lively finish with no hard edges. The alcohol is relatively restrained for a Zinfandel, and the wine is seamlessly constructed. Drink it over the next 3-4 years. One of the best value producers in the Gallo empire is the Frei Brothers Reserve." (12/08)
Rubbing alcohol nose and treacly sweet finish. Not very tasty.
This is an excellent value and RP rated 90
