Frei Brothers Chardonnay 2005
Member Review by julieb27:
For the price you can't beat this bottle of chard. The Frei Brothers produce tasty grapes which in turn yield yummy chards. This wine has the perfect bite and is not too sweet. From the wine novice to the enthusiast...I recommend this chard, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Frei Brothers Reserve was established in Sonoma County’s Dry Creek Valley by Swiss immigrant Andrew Frei. In operation since 1890, Frei Ranch and the winery have played an integral part in establishing the region’s premier reputation for winemaking and continue to produce exceptional wines today by carrying on the rich legacy of both their home vineyard and Sonoma’s celebrated growing regions. Frei Brothers Reserve begins by growing the best grapes in the best growing regions and ends with award-winning wines.
Frei Brothers Reserve also believes in better choices and better wine–today and for generations to come. Led by chief viticulturist Jim Collins, the wines are a pure expression of the land, made from premium grapes carefully grown in some of the best wine-growing regions in Sonoma County, including the Russian River Valley, Alexander Valley and Dry Creek Valley. The winery crafts six critically acclaimed wines, including Chardonnay, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, and Zinfandel.
Making better choices is also a part of the Frei Brothers Reserves sustainability journey that seeks to preserve natural resources without compromising the quality of the wine. The winery’s efforts have been certified by the California Sustainable Winegrowing Alliance and include some of the following programs:
• For every acre of land planted in vineyard, Frei Brothers Reserve sets aside one acre to be preserved as natural habitat
• When the winery at Frei Ranch needed to expand, the brand chose to transplant a row of 20 redwood trees rather than cut them down
• Frei Brothers Reserve uses fewer harsh chemicals, creating less pollution and reducing energy output
• The winery treats and reuses 80 percent of its wastewater for activities like irrigation and frost protection
• When replanting, the winery chips old vines for use as compost instead of burning them
