Freemark Abbey Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2008
The 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon emerges from the glass with dark red fruit, spices, tobacco and licorice aromas. It reveals good inner perfume and plenty of depth in a fruit-driven, approachable style. Darker notes of tar and licorice add complexity on the finish. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2015. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
It began over a century ago as a vision shared by a handful of pioneers; those with an intimate knowledge of grapes and a deep respect for the land. This vision took root, was nurtured by skilled hands and ultimately resulted in one of the first premium wineries in the Napa Valley. Today, the wine of Freemark Abbey stands as a testament to what the rich earth of the Napa Valley is capable of creating when working in perfect harmony with nature.
On the nose this shows a generous amount of woodsy spice. Bitter cocoa and hints of under ripe blackberries lead into a zingy palate of ripe raspberries and that generous amount of spice just keeps giving! Not as soft as some cabs, but a nice change!
Very nice dry red.
External Reviews for Freemark Abbey Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Freemark Abbey Cabernet is medium dark ruby, with aromas of sweet black cherry, blackberry and Santa Rosa plum. The oak is very well integrated with a light spice, clove, vanilla and toast. The depth in the nose has a complexity of dark chocolate and a hint of dried herbs. The entry is soft with dark fruit flavors and well resolved tannins. Velvety, floral, juicy and rich, this wine has great sex appeal.
