Freemark Abbey Merlot Napa Valley 2006

Winemaker's Notes:

Wine Tasting Notes Freemark Abbey Merlot is dark ruby in color and quite opaque with richness. The wine has inviting depth of aroma and bouquet, filled with Bing cherry, dark red raspberry compote, milk chocolate, aromatic cedar, mushroom and violets. The flavor is bright and crisp with somewhat drying tannins. The fruit is reminiscent of dried cherries or cranberries.

Freemark Abbey Winery:
It began over a century ago as a vision shared by a handful of pioneers; those with an intimate knowledge of grapes and a deep respect for the land. This vision took root, was nurtured by skilled hands and ultimately resulted in one of the first premium wineries in the Napa Valley. Today, the wine of Freemark Abbey stands as a testament to what the rich earth of the Napa Valley is capable of creating when working in perfect harmony with nature.

Nose of bing cherry, plums and some dark chocolate. Palate follows suit with some cinnamon tones. Nice. Smooth, well balanced and rich in the mouth. - Tasted at winery 4/18/10
