Freemark Abbey Chardonnay Napa Valley 2010
It began over a century ago as a vision shared by a handful of pioneers; those with an intimate knowledge of grapes and a deep respect for the land. This vision took root, was nurtured by skilled hands and ultimately resulted in one of the first premium wineries in the Napa Valley. Today, the wine of Freemark Abbey stands as a testament to what the rich earth of the Napa Valley is capable of creating when working in perfect harmony with nature.
Editorial Reviews for Freemark Abbey Chardonnay Napa Valley
This greets the nose with notes of fresh cream, lime, a pinch of nutmeg and vanilla, all over deeply layered fruit. Pretty rich on the palate with supporting acids, this definitely makes in impression. There’s a fine creaminess to the texture here. Crème brûlée notes on the palate support flavors of ginger, pineapple and pithy citrus fruits. This is very well balanced, there are no edges and the oak plays a supporting role right through the moderately long apple and grapefruit pith finish, ending with a burst of bright spiciness. This is a bit more Chardonnay than I prefer in my glass but the quality is undeniable. 91pts
