Very aromatic and fruity on the nose with aromas of pineapple, apricot, mango and lime over a base of hazelnut and honeycomb. This fills the mouth with very well-delineated flavors of apple skins, honeycomb and dried lemon flavors in a style that combines assertive acidity and a gentle roundness. Very much in what is called a Burgundian style, the flavors gain a creamy edge on the back end and the almondy oak builds slightly on the moderately long finish. Pretty big nose with multiple tropical fruit aromas--banana, pineapple. Pineapple, especially, hits the initial palate. I love the acid tartness that sort of continues the pineapple thing, but then morphs more to tart green apple. A very refreshing wine. US$18.49 at Costco in Chino Hills.

Very pretty lemon zest and green apple aromatics with some hay, vanilla, and coconut. Really round and well structured with more minerality coming across on the palate.
My favorite style of Chardonnay, the Freemark Abbey is classic California. Luscious toffee and butter give a full, round mouthfeel, while the sunny cantaloupe and banana peek from underneath, adding a brightness and lift. The oak is palpable, but not overwhelming. This is the kind of wine that just screams “fall.”
Sweet tangerine, tropical fruit and honey flavors mark this Chardonnay. It was wise on the winemaker’s part to avoid the malolactic fermentation, because the fresh apple acidity livens up the richness. With a touch of buttered toast from new oak barrels, it’s a savory wine to drink now.
