Black cherry, blackberry, black currant, cedar, green olive, clove and cigar box on the nose. Dark cherry , blackberry and lovely oak spice on the palate, which contains rich fruit and elegant tannin. - Tasted at winery 4/18/10

What a great vintage and what a fine wine. Really enjoyed this wine. Dark dark color, sexy and sleek. The nose is full of dark fruits and currents. The finish is so smooth and sexy it just makes you crave for more. Had this with an awesome medium rare fillet and a side of grilled pinnaple for fun. The rich meat was such a good compliment to this. Added hints of smokiness to the wine and even helped the nose out a bit by adding notes of deeper dark berries and a bit of smoke. I wish I had more of this stuff!
I first had a bottle of the 1999 Freemark Abbey Bosche a few years ago at a restaurant. I enjoyed it so much, that I found a great deal on a bottle and had it shipped to me. I enjoyed the second bottle just as much. A big Cab with a beautiful ruby color and delicious nose. Just the way I like a cab to be, bold with red cherry notes, smooth while still big, and fruit forward without being overly fruity nor woody. Extremely enjoyable cab!

Good deep ruby-red. Cool aromas of blackberry, black olive, menthol and licorice. Offers enticing sweetness to the flavors of candied cherry, currant and tobacco accented by flowers, menthol and cedar. Has more texture to support its rather velvety, building tannins than the basic Napa Valley cabernet. The candied cherry quality carries through to the persistent finish. Perhaps not quite as deep as the 2009 version but a very good effort. The most recent replantings here were in 1991 and 1996.
From a well-known Rutherford vineyard, the 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Bosche Vineyard is a blend of 95% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Merlot aged 29 months in 67% new oak. Backward with a Bordeaux-like framework as well as wonderfully sweet notes of unsmoked tobacco, cassis, fruitcake and cedar, this dense, pure, medium to full-bodied 2010 needs 2–3 years of cellaring and should age for 25+.

From a 23-acre vineyard planted on the so-called red Rutherford dust, this blend of 91% Cabernet Sauvignon and 9% Merlot reveals a sumptuous perfume of crème de cassis, loamy soil, and spicy oak, followed by medium to full-bodied flavors with sweet tannin, outstanding concentration and an overall equilibrium. The Freemark Abbey pedigree is unmistakable.
Located west of Hwy. 29, on the famed Rutherford Bench, Freemark Abbey's Bosché Vineyard has very deep gravelly soils. A seasonal creek crosses the vineyard which causes the water table to be high in the spring, allowing the vineyard to be dry-farmed throughout the majority of the season providing water and nutrients for new shoot growth. As veraison approaches, the water table drops, stressing the vines and intensifying the dark velvety fruit flavors. 2004 was a superb vintage in Napa Valley, an unusually warm end of February and March led to early bud break. Temperatures were closer to normal in June and July, but steady moderate heat kept grape development on an early pace. The flavor intensity of the fruit was outstanding. 12% Merlot was blended in to the Cabernet Sauvignon and the wine aged 24 months in 65% new French oak barrels. Robert Parker re-tasted this timeless Cab a year ago and scored it 94+ saying "The 2004 Cabernet Bosche Vineyard, which sits on alluvial, gravelly soils in Rutherford and is one of Napa’s most famous vineyards, is absolutely brilliant. The blend of 88% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Merlot spent 24 months in French oak. This one is still young for a 2004. Its dense purple color, big sweet kiss of cola, vanilla, cedarwood, oodles of black currants and dark cherries, a hint of licorice and unsmoked cigar tobacco, make for a classic almost Pauillac-like style of wine. This is youthful, full-bodied, promising and should hit its peak in another 4-5 years and last at least another two decades." This wine has been resting quietly in the winery's cellars until vert recently when we were able pry away a very few cases. Don't miss it!!!
