Bright, pale gold. Leesy aromas of soft citrus fruits, pineapple, smoke and hazelnut; showed oak char and iodine as it opened in the glass. Dusty, chewy, plump and dry, with flavors of pineapple, smoky oak and butter. A broad, airy wine with a creamy, tactile texture and good lingering sweetness.
Located in the heart of the Russian River, Freeman set out to make elegant, burdundian style Chardonnays. The fruit for Ryo-Fu Chardonnay comes from two different vinyeard sites, a cooler Green Valley site and a warmer Russian River site. The blending of these has created a wine that has a rich, lush mouth feel with tropical fruit flavors in the nose, and a crisp acidity on the palate.
