Note also that for his 2005 négociant wines, Magnien has simplified them somewhat by adopting certain cuvée names like Coeur des Roches and issuing a number of old vines offerings at the villages level, the latter of which are particularly interesting. And in a few cases, he has replaced the term Vieilles Vignes with the name of a cuvée. A pungent and exceptionally intense nose that is both detailed and concentrated displays earthy aromas of ripe dark berry fruit and a distinct animale component read more...that gives way to penetrating, rich, fresh and superbly balanced flavors that are both powerful and blessed with huge dry extract. This is a seriously impressive effort that is easily of grand cru quality. Take a close look at this one. (hide)
