- All of the wines were to be bottled without fining or filtration and will not be racked prior to the mise. The élevage for the whites was done entirely in one year old barrels. Magnien continues to expand his range, especially at the grand cru level as a Chevalier was added in 2001 and in 2002, there is also a Montrachet. (North Berkeley Wines, Berkeley, California; Michael Skurnik Wines, NY; Laytons, Berry Brothers & Rudd and O.W. Loeb; John Armit for Michel Magnien only, all UK). A generously wooded nose of fresh white flower fruit aromas of considerable elegance introduces surprisingly supple read more...and forward flavors that still deliver plenty of precision and the classic minerality of Chevalier that one expects. This is not a big wine but it's punchy, classy and pure. Lovely quality here with fine balance crafted in a modern style. (hide)
