Note also that for his 2005 négociant wines, Magnien has simplified them somewhat by adopting certain cuvée names like Coeur des Roches and issuing a number of old vines offerings at the villages level, the latter of which are particularly interesting. And in a few cases, he has replaced the term Vieilles Vignes with the name of a cuvée. Moderate reduction knocks the otherwise ripe blueberry and briar aromas down somewhat but there is good freshness in the mouth on the more tightly wound and delineated read more...flavors that possess good energy on the chewy but refined plum and earth-infused finish. Delicious and I like the transparency. (hide)
