Big acid and a downplayed nose. Black raspberry, cranberry, pomegranate and rhubarb. Slate mineral. Earth. Red and some darker fruits. Feels lighter on the palate with vibrant acid. Flavors of blueberry, black plum, pomegranate, brambleberry and rhubarb. Also, black cherry on the mid palate. Good minerality, earthiness and stone influence. Slight herb and white pepper nuances. Big acid on the finish. Ends on a core of blue fruit. 89 pts.

Some lightly leathery cherry on the nose. A little wet smelling. A juicy wine with low tannin and high acid. Very drinkable. Enjoy this.

I really like the color, more Burgundian than California or Oregon. The nose was delicious cherry with fresh berry aroma. On the palate a taste of cherry with raspberry being slightly more dominate. Tannins were light to medium but enough to give this wine some nice structure. The finish was a little short but pleasant. This wine could easily become my very affordable "BURGUNDY".

Franz Haas Pinot Nero has a nice pale-red colour, with fascinating red fruits aromas (raspberry, cranberry). This Pinot Nero has a very good equilibrium between sweetness, salty notes and acidity and a long lasting taste. Good to appreacite with "primi piatti" or main dishes of meat (beef, lamb, pork).

Weingut: Franz HaasLand: ItalienRegion: SüdtirolRebsorte: Pinot NeroInhalt: 0,75 lAlkoholgehalt: 13,5 Vol.%Lagerfähigkeit: 5 - 7 Jahre ab JahrgangFassreife: in Barriques gereift (12 Monate)Empfohlene Serviertemperatur: 16-18°C Rotwein > Italien > Südtirol

Pinot Nero Alto Adige DOC 2006 - Franz Haas : Pinot Nero Alto Adige DOC 2006 - Rotwein von Franz Haas Ein komplexes Farbenspiel kennzeichnet diesen Pinot Nero. Weingut: Franz HaasLand: ItalienRegion: SüdtirolRebsorte: Pinot NeroInhalt: 0,75 lAlkoholgehalt: 13,5 Vol.%Lagerfähigkeit: 5 - 7 Jahre ab JahrgangFassreife: in Barriques gereift (12 Monate)Empfohlene Serviertemperatur: 16-18°C Rotwein > Italien > Südtirol

Winemaker's Notes:

The Haas family has been growing grapes in Montagna in the province of Bolzano, Alto Adige for generations. It is only with Franz, however, the current proprietor, that they have begun to produce and bottle quality wines. Franz studied at Geisenheim in Germany before working as a broker of Italian wines into the German market. After several years, he took over the running of the family business. Franz Haas goes to tremendous lengths to grow good grapes, and then strives to preserve the flavours of the fruit during winemaking. As a result the wines that he produces are infused with great character, and show a rare purity and balance on the palate. This wine is deep ruby red in colour with an intense bouquet of raspberry and cherry aromas that develop hints of ripe red berries with maturity. On the palate it is smooth, characterised by soft tannins, roundness and a long finish.
