Franz Haas Pinot Grigio 2009

Winemaker's Notes:

Pale yellow in color with brilliant greenish reflections, enticing aromas of acacia flowers, citrus, tangerine, and hints of apricots and almonds. Kris is lean and refreshing on the palate with hints of blossom and honey. Recommended with salad, roast vegetables, risotto, lightly flavored pastas, omelettes, quiches and grilled white meats or salmon.

A family-run estate, it was handed down through the generations to the first-born son Franz Haas. Flowers, minerals, apple, zingy, simple. Tastes like a dry riesling.

Light, crisp, and refreshing with fruit and a honeydew component. I use this wine in tastings on a regular basis and receive great responses. Sweet wine lovers are surprised they enjoy this wine which I primarily attribute to the honeydew. Based on the quality and $10/btl, I always stocks a few bottles in my own home!

Straw yellow with a greenish tint. Grassy aroma with herbal overtones. Very crisp and smooth, with ripe apple and lemon flavors laced with the variety's characteristic taste of almond. This sprightly and engaging wine clamors for food.

Refreshing peach and almond aromas followed by a silky texture, ginger spice and delicate floral tones. Surprisingly fruity for this often austere grape, with a lingering, lemon finish.

A great value, Haas's 2001 Kris Pinot Grigio is a tank-fermented and aged, 100% Pinot Grigio offering a moderately intense bouquet of white peaches and candied fruits. Fresh, medium-bodied, and fruity, with excellent purity as well as an appealing personality.

One of the great values in Pinot Grigio, this tank-fermented and aged, light-bodied wine exhibits good texture along with plenty of peach, tangerine, and citrusy notes. This fruity, dry Italian white is ideal for drinking during its first 12 months of life.

The aromatic 2006 Pinot Grigio from Kris presents generous, sweet apricot and melon flavors with an easy-going, refreshing personality. Anticipated maturity: 2007-2008.

The 2008 Pinot Grigio is a fairly rich, full-bodied style of Pinot Grigio, with plenty of ripe yellow peaches and excellent balance. This is an especially refined version of Kris's Pinot Grigio. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2011.
