This has a nice dominated by spicy French oak with dried apple fruit and a bit of lemon oil. In the mouth this is very bright up front with big citrus tones that yield to a rich, viscous, powerfully built mid-palate full of pineapple, peach and apricot tones with plenty of acid backing it up yet it still becomes cloying and sticky on the backend. The finish is also sweet with big, pure notes of cinnamon toast with cream and vanilla. A lot of wine that’s not my style but should find many admirers. 90pts

Frank Family has their Napa Chardonnay and their Carneros Chardonnay and unfortunately Snooth doesn't decipher between the two at this time. This review is for the Carneros Chardonnay which is far and away the best of the two. The Carneros Chardonnay is one of the few wines out there that I have tried that rival the Rombauer Charndonnay. It's smooth and buttery and goes great with any summer meal.

Winemaker's Notes:

2007 Frank Family Napa Valley Chardonnay is multifaceted and vibrant; it opens with aromas of Kaffir lime leaves, yellow plum, juicy peaches, and dried pear. These bright aromas are countered by vanilla bean Crme brle, lemon curd and cinnamon baked apple. The palate is lively, smooth, and layered; bursting with pineapple, Bosc pear, and Russet apples, moving into spiced cake, and buttery pie crust, while being accented by a subtle hint of Thai ginger.Production Notes:Barrel fermented in 34% new, 33% once and 33% twice filled French Oak barrels for 11 months. While ageing on the lees, the wine was hand stirred regularly, a technique known as "batonage," which promotes depth and longevity. This is a California Wine.
