François Pinon Vouvray Cuvee Silex Noir 2009

Winemaker's Notes:

This wine has a delicate sweetness in the attack that gives over to a pleasant citrus finish with resonance and length. It has flavors reminiscent of apples and quince with a slightly spicy accent. This is a wine that will continue to develop with age, but is affable and charming now. Not yet reviewed; 2008 vintage rated 91 points by Int'l Wine Cellar.

Suggested Recipe Pairing presented by
Layered Rice Pudding

RiceSelect's fragrant Jasmati® is blended with eggs, milk and fall's favorite spices, cinnamon and nutmeg, to create a delicious rice pudding, which is layered on top of fluffy cream cheese and abuttery pecan crust. Pairs well with a bold, tawny port with flavors of dried fruits, nuts, and spices.

Ever so slightly off-dry, this Chenin Blanc is always a favorite. Medium(+) in body, with apricot and subtle honey notes balanced by bright acidity. Pleasant undertones of mineral, too.

Pinon's Cuvée Tradition is what is termed a vin tendre, the sweetness is between a sec and demi-sec. It has a delicate sweetness in the attack that gives over to a pleasant citrus finish with resonance and length. It has flavors reminiscent of apples and quince with a slightly spicy accent. This is a wine that will continue to develop with age, but is affable and charming now.
