François Cotat Sancerre Rosé Chavignol 2008
ncredibly fresh and dry; this bountiful rose glimmers like a precious ruby in the glass and its rich, ripe flavors are both generous and precise. Rose petals and red berries blend in its abundant perfumes. The mouth is a mineral bomb, with great definition and zest; notes of raspberries and ginger combine with currants and chalk dust, the signature of the region’s chalky Kimmeridgian soils. A vibrant finish reminds of Chablis energy and pepper. Pinot Noir with a scant amount of Gamay from vines planted before 1934 (appellation rules allow the addition only for the oldest vines).
