Franciscan Napa Chardonnay 2008
Score: N/A Tasting Notes: The wine is full bodied, yet elegantly structured with delicate mineral, honey, citrus and stone fruit characters from the Carneros lots, and classic pear and apple notes from the South Napa vineyards. The aromas are seamless; a benefit of fermentation and aging in oak barrels, and the mouthfeel plush and round from the wild yeast. Web Site: Click Here
Editorial Reviews for Franciscan Napa Chardonnay
A bit toasty, smoky, and spicy on the nose with underlying notes of dried orchard fruits. In entry this shows good balance for a rather big boned style of Chardonnay. The fruit is marked by wood spice and vanilla but is rich enough and deep enough to keep things balanced. There’s some interesting licorice spice notes across the palate and a buttery edge that extends through the moderately long finish. This is rich and powerful, suitable for pairing with a fairly rich, highly seasoned dish, perhaps some with an Asian bent to the seasoning. 89pts
Lightly floral golden apple and crisp lemon aromas. A bit of oak on the palate, with toast and cream, a touch of honey, lemon curd and fresh acidity.
Big full taste - Oaky and creamy. Very good
Smokey nose...pepper/vanilla cream taste...maybe a bit of red pepper, without being too spicy? Creamy....rounding out the slight oak taste. A wonderful Napa chardonnay, without being too "oaky". Medium body....that 13.5% alcohol could be a bit lower, though. Wonderful dinner choice!

Notes of peach, pear and apple combined with hints of tropical aromas and toasted nuttiness. Lively and lengthy on the palate with a great body and structure. Mineral notes linger, and the finish is crisp, creamy and clean, with apple and citrus flavors.
Sweet spice complimented with rich fruit characters of pears, apricots and peaches. Creamy and supple with notes of vanilla on the finish.
Offers a simple yet pleasant mix of ripe pear, apple and green melon flavors, with a touch of light oak. Drink now. Tasted twice, with consistent notes.
Fruity and oaky, a likeable Chard that satisfies for its array of peach, pear, spice, smoke and vanilla aromas and flavors and creamy texture. But it could use more oomph.
This pleasant quaffer offers up good Chard character. The apple, peach and pear flavors have a creamy texture, and just a touch of smoky oak. Turns a bit tart on the finish.
