Nice garnet color. Black cherry, pepper and raspberry nose. Spicy but with good black fruits. Decent length on the finish. Not bad.

Comparable to the St. Francis Old Vines Zin from Sonoma County. Coppola knows how to get a wine done properly. Director's cut rocks the under $20 Zin bin. Funny thing is, Rosenblum gets it done for half the price!

Winemaker Notes - We blended our Zinfandel with a small amount of Petite Sirah. Half the fruit was crushed whole berry and the must is fermented in open-top fermenters for eight days, with punch downs three times a day, to ensure maximum flavor and color extraction. After fermentation, the wine was aged in French oak adding a wonderful toasted spice and French vanilla essence to its heady aroma of rum raisin with hints of black currant and red cherry. Sweet raspberry jam with currant and red spice flavors are wrapped up in a soft and luxurious texture with moderate tannins.
