Wine Tasting NotesOur Green Label Syrah-Shiraz has a dark purple-red color and generous aromas of plum and clove. Bursting with flavors of ripe raspberry and black currant, this rich juicy wine has layers of sweet spice and notes of smoky vanilla. A hint of bittersweet chocolate and pepper peek through on the finish to create a complex wine with soft tannins.

Unlike others in this category, our unique Syrah-Shiraz is sourced from three specific vineyards in the Central Coast and blended with small amounts of Petite Sirah.

We derive exceptionally supple fruit from our San Lucas vineyard, which is
positioned on a southeastern facing slope that avoids afternoon heat. Fewer hours of intense sunlight allow the grapes to ripen slowly over a longer period of time. This provides the fruit with better concentration and intense blackberry aromas. grapes harvested from our Paso Robles vineyard contribute red raspberry flavors and a velvety read more...texture, while our Hames Valley Petite Sirah lends depth and structure. The vintage experienced a long, cool growing season, which further intensifies the flavor complexity of the fruit.

Once harvested, the grapes are de-stemmed; however, a portion of the stems are held back for later use. After a 48-hour cold soak to extract color, the must is heated to 90° F and inoculated. We then add the stems back in to the fermenting tank to achieve a white pepper aroma in the wine. This, coupled with French oak aging, makes our Syrah-Shiraz a rich, decadent and expressive wine.    (hide)
