First impression - this wine assaulted the mouth. Tart tannin's burnt oak and Alcohol. Lots of heat going down that lingered. We uncorked it about 15min before the first glass. My wife made a face. The label billed it as an everyday wine to have on the table at dinner each night. We had it paired with pasta and a red sauce with garlic bread.

We set it aside until the next day. On the second day it had calmed down a bit and was much more drinkable. Light in the mouth, berries, plum and smoke, milder tannin's medium light finish, still some heat on the back palette. A little earth and dust.
