What to Expect

Merlot has gotten a bad rap as of late but there is no denying the wine's appeal. Packed with deep, dark berry fruit and nuanced hints of cocoa, herb and earth with a soft structure. Its velvety texture makes Merlot instantly appealing and an obvious alternative to similar, more tannic Bordeaux varieties.

The 2006 growing season was long and cool, allowing the grapes to hang on the vine and mature longer. As a result, this Merlot delivers exceptional concentration and impressive length. To enrich the color, small amounts of Syrah and Petite Sirah are blended in. Then, the wine is aged in small French oak barrels, which lend lovely notes of sweet vanilla to this elegant, full-bodied Merlot. Appearance: Dark purple-red Aromas: Cherries, blueberries, dark chocolate Flavors: Plums, blackberries, currants, vanilla

Particularly good with chili infused dark chocolate.

There must have been more than just a "small amount" of Syrah and Petit Syrah because there was no merlot character at all. The nose as meaty, smoky, and had very little fruit. The wine was WAY over oaked and came across very thin. Not worth paying $10/bottle, let alone marked up at a restraunt.

Our Blue Label Merlot has brilliant, deep garnet color with aromas of bright red cherries and clove spice. Supple red plum and black cherry flavors highlight the palate, with subtle notes of light milk chocolate and vanilla bean evident on the long finish.

A smooth but complex merlot - a bit pricier than others of this type.
From the tasting notes: "Deep garnet color with aromas of bright red cherries and clove spice. Supple red plum and black cherry flavors highlight the palate, with subtle notes of light milk chocolate and vanilla bean evident on the long finish."
