Francesco Rinaldi Figli & Barolo Cannubbio 2003
An uber-traditional Barolo with dark flowers, dense ripe fruit and big tannins. The grapes were selected and hand-picked in the vineyard around mid-October prior to a prolonged fermentation of about 20 days which took place in stainless steel tanks and, after pumping the wine over the cap, when alcoholic fermentation ended, the new wine was decanted in large capacity Slavonian oak casks, where it matured for about 4 years. This wine is suitable for prolonged ageing in bottle.
The company was founded in 1870, when our grandfather, Giovanni, left Diano d'Alba and walked to Barolo, where he had just inherited a vineyard and a house.As he was a fine wine-dresser, he was immediately conquered by the subtle charm of these hills. Some years later he was supported by the help of his sons and today the business is run by his descedants, who love this evocative little world jus like he did.
