Foxhorn Vineyards Merlot San Luis Obispo County 2004
I love this wine , this is the best damm wine their is it has real taste ,not fake smooth and relaxing and manly , to me this should get an award for the wine of the year, alot of the others are bitter, this one is'nt , this is the greatest. A 10 in my book .Add winemaker's notes
Foxhorn is a brand of very inexpensive bulk wines produced in California. The wines are available in varietals such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay and Shiraz. The label depicts a classic illustration of a fox, projecting a brand committed to traditional tastes.

A very satisfactory table wine. Probably the best value there is for someone on a budget.
I love the blackberry undertones of this wine and find it much smoother and easier on the stomach than the more expensive almost acidic wines.
Taste like a standard table merlot. Nothing special, but not horrible for the price.

I bought two 1,5 liter bottles of the Merlot on two different occasions lately. Both had the typical taste of a wine that was open for several days, when it starts to become spoiled and acidic. The cork cap does not seal tightly enough and the wine has been exposed to the air. Only a small part of the cork, just below the head has the same diameter as the inner bottleneck diameter. I used to buy Foxhorn very regularly, mainly Carbernet which was consistantly very good, until I had a similar experience of spoiled wine about a year ago. I stoppped and then when I saw the Merlot I tried again and unfortunately it is the same experience again. charles J. Berberat Lakeland FL
