Foxen is an impressive, quaint winery tucked away in the hills of Santa Barbara and boasts some great, tasteful wines. Their 2006 Pinot is, as the wine maker notes, very fruit forward with earthy flavors. Overall a well-balanced and memorable wine well worth a taste.

Claimed to have notes of cinnamon, cola nut and cardamom, we decanted this one to take advantage of anything it had to offer. This wine maintains an earthiness throughout, but definitely delivers the cola, hint of cinnamon and cardamom mid-palate. This is a great Pinot. The only reason it didn't receive a 90 or 91 was because we compare all Pinots to the 2003 Mueller Emily's Cuvee Pinot, or the William Selyem...which are phenomenal. Will definitely buy this one again. SDWC.

The 2010 Pinot Noir Julia's Vineyard is an attractive, mid-weight Pinot bursting with energy and sheer class. Dark red cherries, mint and spices are some of the notes that emerge as the Julia's shows off its pedigree and pure class. There is good jui... Robert Parkers Wine Advocate. Tight, firm and tannic, with rich loamy earth notes and mineral, dried berry and sage flavors. The blueberry and wild berry fruit underneath should shine with a little time. Winemaker's Notes:

Not yet reviewed; 2009 vintage rated 93 points by Wine Enthusiast: A beautiful Pinot, authoritative and masculine, with firm tannins, hard acidity and a bone-dry finish. The core of black cherries, cola, spices and sweet oak is irrestibly good. Compelling now right out of the bottle, and should develop over the next six years. Barrel aged 16 months in French oak (45% new). Alcohol 14.7%. 600 cases produced.
