Suggested Recipe Pairing presented by
Layered Rice Pudding

RiceSelect's fragrant Jasmati® is blended with eggs, milk and fall's favorite spices, cinnamon and nutmeg, to create a delicious rice pudding, which is layered on top of fluffy cream cheese and abuttery pecan crust. Pairs well with a bold, tawny port with flavors of dried fruits, nuts, and spices.

Noted wine critic Dan Berger wrote: “It’s not unthinkable that at some point in the near future, the phrase “Finger Lakes” will conjure up thoughts of great Riesling in the way that “Napa Valley” evokes thoughts of Cabernet Sauvignon.” And with every vintage it becomes clearer and clearer that the best Rieslings outside of Germany are from New York’s Finger Lakes region. The similarities to Germany’s Mosel are numerous; both are cool climate regions, both have slate-filled soil which provides good drainage and a distinct mineral character to the grapes, both have the warming effect of a body of water. This lush Riesling is from Fox Run Vineyards which is located on Seneca Lake and in 2008 was the first New York state winery to be named in Wine & Spirits Magazine's Top 100 Wineries in the World. Seneca has a high proportion of the region’s wineries because it’s very large (40 miles long) and very deep (over 400 feet). And this massive body of water provides a unique tempering effect to the vineyards along its banks. This wine is a full-bodied style with a touch of sweetness that balances beautifully with the bright acidity. Mineral, floral and ripe fruity notes abound on the nose and on the palate. Very limited production.

A touch of sweetness perks up the apricot and nectarine flavors, while moderate acidity balances the whole package. Drink now.

A pretty, apple and peach-infused white, supported by a vibrant structure. Shows some depth, too, picking up a vanilla note midpalate through the finish. Drink now through 2002.

Light and dry in style, with peach, lime and floral notes. Fresh, flinty finish. Nice cut here. Drink now.

This lush Riesling from Fox Run Vineyards jsut scored 92 point with Wine & Spirits magazine. They said "High-toned and citrusy, this brisk riesling has scents of lime and passionfruit. The flavors add a savory note, like freshly baked bread, finishing on lime and Meyer lemon." Limited!

Green apples and pears combine harmoniously in this tart, mostly dry offering. Elements of vegetable oil and mineral add complexity.
