Fox Run Vineyards Riesling 2006

Winemaker's Notes:

Tasting Notes: This wine displays ripe and complex aromas suggestive of apricot, apple and lime. Rich and soft with a finely balanced finish. Varietal Notes: Riesling gives wine lovers the finest example of the important complementary role that sugar and acid play in a wine's overall balance. Indeed, a great Riesling is exactly that, a stunningly graceful contrast between the two. Rounding out the package are the signature floral fruit characteristics that combine perfectly with the grape's natural sugar-acid balance. This gives Riesling the potential to age gracefully for years, becoming more supple and luxurious, with petrol-like qualities. Vineyard Notes: Soils are from glacial deposits, friable, well drained and have an eastern aspect (slopes point to the east) . The vines are 6-15 years old. Technical Notes: Appellation: Finger Lakes RS: 2.6% Alcohol: 11.3% Aging: Stainless Steel Return to Fox Run Vineyards wine list

Situated on the slopes overlooking one of the deepest parts of Seneca Lake is Fox Run -- a winery with fifty acres of vineyards producing a remarkable range of fine wines. Under the dynamic, forward-looking leadership of Scott Osborn, Fox Run has become one of the truly great producers in the Finger Lakes region just south of Rochester, New York. Native grape varieties put the Finger Lakes on the map a century and half ago, and French-American hybrids, bred for cold resistance, still have an important niche in the region. But Osborn was convinced that non-hybrid European Vinifera grapes could yield wine excellent enough to put the Finger Lakes in the ranks of the world’s top fine wine producers. For more than a century Fox Run was a dairy farm. The first grapes were not planted until 1985, and the barn, erected shortly after the Civil War, was restored and converted to a winery and tasting room with a spectacular view of the lake in 1989. Suggested Recipe Pairing presented by
Coconut Rice Sweet Potato Cheesecake

RiceSelect's creamy Arborio gets blended with sweet potato, coconut milk and vanilla to create this decadent cheesecake. Pairs well with Saunternes; a white dessert wine that has hints of coconut from aging in oak barrels.
