- James Halliday Rating 92!"Densely coloured rich- plush blackberry- dark chcolate and vanilla good balance in epic style." James Halliday's Australian Wine Companion 2005 "Firm- long and very smooth shiraz that holds its 15% of alchol with relative ease. Its peppery- spicy fragrance is a complex one- with briary blackberry- cassis and slightly meaty aromas of dark olives offset by sweet milk choclate and vanilla oak. Very intense and assertive- its long- smooth palate of deep blackberry- redcurrent and dark plum flavours is bound firm yet fine tannins. There's read more...some spirity warmth- plus a suggestion of tarry- spicy current-like flavour. Long and complete- it finishes with just a hint of mint and menthol." Jeremy Oliver - Wine Annual 2006. "An awesome wine. It has great depth of colour- aroma and flavour typical of the best wines of the McLaren Vale region. The wine has an extraordinary range of flavours including blackberry- blackcurrant- licorice and dark chocolate. There is a long finish. Although approachable now it is suitable for long term cellaring." Tasting notes from Fox Creek Wines Awards Gold Medal- International Wine Challenge of Asia 2004 Gold Medal- Sydney Royal Wine Show 2004 Fox Creek Leader of the pack and the first wine made at Fox Creek was their 1994 Shiraz- which won the Trophy for the best wine at the McLaren Vale Wine Show in 1995. Success has continued and Fox Creek now markets single varietal wines from Shiraz- Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot and blends of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot (Duet)- Shiraz and Cabernet Franc (JSM)- Shiraz and Grenache and a sparkling Shiraz Cabernet Franc (Vixen). The white wines produced are Chardonnay- Sauvignon Blanc- Verdelho and a Semillon Sauvignon Blanc. Fox CreekFox Creek Reserve Shiraz"Our most celebrated wine- first made in 1994. It has great depth of colour- aroma and flavour- typical of the best wines of the McLaren Vale region. The Reserve has an extraordinary range of flavours with blackberry- blackcurrant- liquorice and dark chocolate. The wine has a rich sweet fruit mid palate and the finish is long. While approachable when young- it is recommended for medium to long term cellaring. A period of decanting before drinking is recommended." www.foxcreekwines.com (hide)

- Tightly packed with bright plum, currant and spice flavors, this one has remarkable focus that lets the flavors roll beautifully through the firm tannins onto a long and promising finish. Best from 2006 through 2012. 350 cases imported. -90 Points Wine Spectator Meaty, burnt sugary aromas are deep. On the palate, tannins are chewy and red fruit is dressed up with coffee and mocha; coffee continues through the long finish. Bears some resemblance to the 1994 Reserve Shiraz, which is still going strong. Drink through 2012. -91 Points Wine Enthusiast Medium ruby. Ripe, vibrant and nicely focused read more...aromas of crushed blackberry, blackcurrant, basil, exotic incense and vanilla. Dense and thick, with round, supple flavors of dark berries, creme de cassis kirsch, mocha and roasted meat. Finishes fat and creamy without losing its focus or verve. -91 Points International Wine Cellar Powerful blackberries and blackcurrant flavours together with licorice and dark chocolate. These flavours are balanced by firm acidity and fully integrated tannin giving a wine of extraordinary depth and length of finish. This is the epitome of our Reserve Shiraz style. The fruit for the Reserve Shiraz was primarily sourced from our Willows Block' at Fox Creek and harvested between 14° and 14.5° Baume. Fermentation on skins was for 8 days with a proportion of the wine (40%) completing fermentation in new American (80%) and French (20%) oak. The wine was matured for 15 months in new and 1 year old American oak. During this time it was racked 3 times allowing us to assess the quality of the wine and fine-tune our oak handling. (hide)
