Four Vines Chardonnay Santa Barbara County Naked Chardonnay 2006
“Naked” is our expression for a No-Oak style of winemaking. The fruit was fermented in 100% stainless steel and NOT put through malolactic fermentation, in order to maintain the natural acid balance. The Chardonnay exhibits crisp apple, white peach, and pear, finishing long with hints of citrus and mineral. Drink Naked often!
Very fruity. Pears. Very balanced. Medium body. Apple cider!
The blurb on the label says this "naked" chardonnay is fermented without oak. We drank it two nights in a row - with a somewhat bland quasi-indian dish it seemed too acidic and severe, but with a butternut squash risotto it was a great pairing.
I'm not a Chardonnay fan, but this wine is delicious! It is so light, crisp and refreshing - I could drink an entire bottle by myself!
This is a refreshing change from the over-oaked chardonnays. It's clean and crisp and great in the summertime.
