Fort Ross Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast Reserve Fort Ross Vineyard 2005
RiceSelect's fragrant Jasmati® is blended with eggs, milk and fall's favorite spices, cinnamon and nutmeg, to create a delicious rice pudding, which is layered on top of fluffy cream cheese and abuttery pecan crust. Pairs well with a bold, tawny port with flavors of dried fruits, nuts, and spices.
This wine is still tightly coiled, and not showing it's best right now. Aromas and flavors of mushroom, plums, raspberry. Will be best after 2009, I suspect, so give this one time to unfurl.
A complex nose opens to scents of rose, cherry, smoke, woodsy moss and leaves, with a hint of petroleum, pomegranate and plum. Dark fruit combined with notes of cherry, raspberry and bright red fruits spread widely on the tongue thanks to a pleasant acidity. Some new leather and dirt in the middle, but soft underneath the fruit. Moments in this gorgeous wine display ecstatically harmonized floral, fruit and spice, unlike any other. A spicy finish lingers nicely on the back. First tasting on 6/19/10: 3.5/5. Second tasting on 1/8/11: 4/5 Wine has matured and blossomed beautifully in six months.
