Smoky on the nose with a minor peat note this still shows some wood backed by lovely, smoky fruit with touches of honey-suckle, cool menthol, and dried hay. The aromas are sweet and appealing if a touch animal. On entry this is soft and very juicy with a really fresh cherry fruit tone, and a touch of almond,. This remains fresher and fruitier then the 1996, showing a touch of heat and less complete integration on the finish but is still elegant and refined. 91pts
