Beautiful, inky dark in the glass. That's what I want to see in a Petite Sirah. Berry, pruney nose. Terrific introduction to the palate--not fruity, but minerally with a kinda "chalky" feel. Strange. Fruit--berrys and prunes--emerges as it passes over the tongue. Some coffee-like hints. Tannin hits at the back of the palate. An enjoyable wine. US$13.99 at Total Wines

I love the Petite Sirah in this. It really gives it some weight. the pinot gives the floral strawberry and cherry on the palate. Like dropping a Jolly Rancher into a Zima, without the fizz.

On the nose, robust blackberry and dark chocolate are the predominant aromatics with a touch of anise and white pepper. The fruity aromas follow on the tongue, commingled with full-bodied black cherry, blueberry, hints of dark toasted hazelnuts and sweet vanilla. The well-managed, even tannins produce a long, silky finish with luscious black fruits to the end. Pair this rich wine with grilled or roasted lamb chops, braised meats, dark chocolate desserts, or hearty, aged cheeses such as Asiago, Parmesan Reggiano or Gouda. - WineryHarvest dates: September 25 - October 10, 2009Alcohol: 14.9%pH: 3.64TA: 0.58g/100mlBarrels: 25% new french oak, 2.5% new hungarian oak, 2.5% new american oak, 70% neutral oakBottled: June 22 - 24, 2011Cases produced: 6,500
