Even with substantial air the nose on this starts out as closed and so tight with just some clay and necco wafer tones. With time this really blossoms adding mint, musk, spice, floral tones and cherry fruit to the intense bouquet. In the mouth this is big, rich and packed with youthful fruit that is bright and remarkably transparent for such a deep wine. The fruity has great fresh spice tones and wonderful tense structure that keeps it superbly vibrant in the mouth with a layered quality that allows the fruit to meld seamlessly with the earth and spice notes. The finish is cleansing with that perfectly ripe fruit and wonderful notes of small red berries and dried flowers. An exceptional wine and very likely the wine of the vintage. 96pts

Vibrant cherries, slightly medicinal with a medium body. Tar reminds me of a burgundy with its powdery finish.
Stewed fruit, mint, chocolate, and coffee on nose. Seems youthful. Bright sweet fruit with a good amount of acid. Really well balanced. I would guess this is much younger.
Good tannic structure with nice earth, twig and dried leave notes. Strawberry and bramble fruits showing through. Nicely aged and bedding down, but still a lot of power

Given the vintage's glycerin level and opulence, it can be drunk now, but it promises to last for 15 or more years...93" WA
