What to Expect

Also Known as Pinot Bianco in Italy and Weissburgunder in Germany, Pinot Blanc produces bright wines with a gentle fruit character. At their best they have a transparency that reveals a mineral note in the wine. They tend to have a rich mouthfeel yet remain well-balanced.

Winemakers Notes

Fonseca vintage ports are renowned for their great fruit richness and voluptuousness, and, while powerful and mouthfilling, for their breed and balance. In the context of each vintage, they combine the tannic dimension and "grip" which give great port its longevity with the structure and complexity that are Fonseca's hallmark. Among the Douro's first growths, Fonseca Vintage Port is clearly the "Pétrus" of Port.

Sporting an opaque, black-colored robe with dark purple trim, the 2003 Fonseca Vintage Port exhibits a nose of profound depth. read more...

The Fonseca Port House is certainly considered one of the top houses in the Douro. A mixture of black cherries, blackberries, currants and cherrywood. Surprisingly approachable in its youth but naturally in a year such as this one, a Port that will last decades.
