This luxuriant, firmly structured wine is marked by intense black fruit and cassis flavors and aromas with nuances of spice, nutmeg and sweet herbs set in a plummy, saturated texture ending in a lush finish.

Aromas of blueberry and almond follow through to a full-bodied palate. Medium sweet, round and chewy. Slightly one-dimensional. Drink now.

This is all about power and rich fruit. A great depth of flavor, dark and brooding, but also with great sweetness and richness. This is an outstanding powerful wine which will age.

Winemaker's Notes:

Fonseca Late Bottled Vintage is a superior quality wines that has been aged longer that the younger Reserve Portos. The extra time inn the barrel allows greater complexity to develop. It is not a vintage port which is bottled only when it is 2 years old. These wines are bottled later between 4-6 years old; which is why they are called Late Bottled Vintage. The wonderful advantage over the famous vintage ports is that Late Bottle Vintages do not need to be cellared and are ready to drink. Fonseca use their pioneering piston fermenters for Late Bottled Vintages, for extra fruit extraction.

Tasting Notes:

Fills the mouth to bursting with juicy black fruit, liquourice and chocolate. A wine with lovely textural quality; velvety, smooth. The finish is full of flavor and wonderfully intense and long.

Closure: Cork

Notes: 5-6 years in a large wooden vat of approximately 25,000L litre size. Seasoned neutral wood is used to age the Port to ensure that no flavors from the wood alter the intense fruit flavors.
