Very floral and decidedly spicy with hints of juniper, coriander and balsam as well as a touch of pencil eraser framing the black raspberry and fig fruit aromas. Very smooth on entry, silky even and a touch lighter in weight than many Ports. The palate shows a fine base of tannins with unusually clear plum and cherry fruit. This is fairly structured in the mouth with good freshness to the flavors that turn spicy on the moderately long finish. Exemplary, this has it all. Balance, complexity and a wonderful texture. 90pts

Im writing this from memory, not a recent tasting...so this should be updated. I remember really liking this one thought. Amazing for its price. Sweet, lighter than most ports, fruity and velvety, Matt wasn't particularly fond of it, but hes not much of a port guy.

This is a top quality Reserve Porto (Ruby) made by the unique Piston fermenters pioneered by the winemaker David Guimaraens. Big dark berry fruit flavors and due to the better production method, the fruit integrates the alcohol amazingly well. Something quite special. This wine is not however made Jose Maria de Fonseca but by Fonseca Guimaraens. Jose Maria is in another wine region.

This wine caught me completely off guard. Having never had a Port before, I'm thinking I picked a good one. The nose is amazing with beautiful complexity. It's a bit heavy on alcohol on the nose but it never comes through on the taste. Certainly decanter or aerate this baby. The taste will knock you back if you're not ready. Cherry, cedar, chocolate and everything amazing comes through in this. Not great by itself, but it will pair well with a great deal of food. Certainly a great one for friends and a meal. Bring this one with you for the holidays.

This rich, velvety reserve ruby port brims with luxuriant blackberry and plum flavors and aromas offset by notes of sweet spice and dried fruits, set in a mouthfilling texture underscored by ripe, soft tannins

Weingut: FonsecaRegion: DouroRebsorte: Tinta Roriz, Touriga Francesca, Touriga Nacional, Tinto Cão, Tinta Amarela, Tinta BarrocaInhalt: 0,75 lAlkoholgehalt: 20,0 Vol.%Gesamtsäure: 3,98 g/lRestsüße: 89,9 g/lempfohlene Serviertemperatur: 15 °C Suche nach Rebsorten > Rote Rebsorten > Tinta Cao

Unvergesslich!

Deep, saturated ruby-purple hue. Brooding lacquer, black fruit and chocolate aromas are classic and intense. A firm entry leads a moderately full-bodied palate with mild sweetness and a firm structure. The finish is deep and balanced.(tastings.com)

Winemaker's Notes:

A Quinta do Panascal Vintage Port is produced only when a general Fonseca declaration is not made, as this wine forms the backbone of a Fonseca Vintage Port blend. The decision to bottle a Quinta do Vintage is taken when the wine is judged to be of exceptional quality. The wine will spend two years ageing in vat before being bottled and will be released when it is ready to drink, normally 10 years after the harvest. These wines are lovely and intense and show great fruit, balance and structure.
